Customers now can own ‘My cancellation’ covers

CHENNAI, February 11, 2016

As part of its efforts to rekindle an interest in philately, the Department of Posts is offering residents a chance to send letters with a personalised touch. 
After personalised stamps, including those with selfies, customers can now own ‘My Cancellation’ on envelopes with special messages.

‘My Cancellation’ allows the customer to get a postal seal with a special message for the specific occasion along with a personalised ‘My Stamp’, which allows their images to be printed on it.

International Fleet Review Special Issues

Commemorative stamp on International Fleet Review was released by President of India Shri Pranab Mukherjee at Visakhapatnam on 6th February, 2016.

In addition to Commemorative Stamp, First Day Cover and Brochure, the Department of Posts has also released a booklet (folder) in commemoration of past President’s Fleet Reviews titled “AIKYA”. The booklet contains write ups, photographs and images of stamps brought out on the occasion of past President Fleet Reviews.
 The booklet was released by Member (Planning), Postal Services Board, Mr. Shekhar Kumar Sinha in presence of Mrs. Sharda Sampath, Postmaster General, Visakhapatnam, Mr. M. Sampath, Postmaster General, Vijaywada and Commodore Amit Vikram on 7th February 2016 at the function held at Visakhapatnam. The booklet is priced at Rs. 325 and can be obtained from Philatelic Bureau, Visakhapatnam.

It was informed by Directorate that violation in fixing of Business hours of Post offices such as fixing of SB counter hours for 7 hours, extended business hours on Saturdays etc   is observed in many postal circles. Directorate has ordered to observe the provisions of   clause 5 of PO Guide Part I scrupulously while fixing PO Business hours.

Empowered Committee On 7th CPC May Recommend Increase In Salary Of Junior And Mid Level Employees

New Delhi: Central government employees’ pay bill are unlikely to get increased salary from April under the Seventh Pay Commission recommendations, as the central government might delay the hike by six months to evaluate the actual needs of employees, said finance ministry officials.

Dept of Expenditure, Ministry of Finance has constituted an empowered committee of Secretaries vide its OM dated 27.01.2016 to process the recommendations of the Seventh Central Pay Commission.
 This committee is having 13 members. Sri P K Sinha,Cabinet Secretary of Govt of India is the Chairman of the Committee and secretaries of other Departments including Dept of Posts are the members.

The Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Amendment Act, 2015 to ensure more stringent provisions for prevention of Atrocities against Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes will be enforced with effect tomorrow i.e. January 26, 2016.

PADMA Awards 2016

 The President of India has approved conferment of Padma Awards-2016 to 112 persons as per the list below. The list comprises of 10 Padma Vibhushan, 19 Padma Bhushan and 83 Padma Shri Awardees.  19 of the awardees are women and the list also includes 10 persons from the category of foreigners, NRIs, PIOs (include one posthumous) and 4 Posthumous awardees.

E-tender must from April 1 for govt purchases above Rs 2 lakh

Come April 1, all central ministries and public sector units will have to float e-tenders for procuring goods and services exceeding Rs 2 lakh, a move aimed at bringing transparency in government purchases. 

At present, e-procurement is mandatory for purchases of Rs 5 lakh or more. Government procures goods, services and work contracts.
