IP & LGO Examinations are likely to be postponed

It is ascertained from the authorities of CMC which is conducting Departmental Examinations of Dept of Posts that the Inspector Post Examination and LGO Examination scheduled to be held on 03/04-09-2011 are likely to be postponed to a later date. Further they informed orally that the proposal of postponement of these two Examinations was sent to Postal Directorate from CMC side and the final decision of the Directorate is yet to be known and is expecting by today evening.

Incentive Structure for Procurement of RPLI Business w.e.f. 01.10.2009

RPLI business (Direct Agents (RPLI), FOs/GDS & other RPLI Sales Force) 
(a) 10% of First Year premium towards the RPLI policies procured by them w.e.f.01.10.2009    
(b) 10% of total incentive paid to GDS to SDI/ASP- in First Year only.  
(c) 2.5% of renewal premium income collected by them in respect of those policies procured on or after 01.10.2009

Additional Commission of 1.5% of premium shall be paid to the Group Leaders/ Entrustees for collecting premium towards 1000 or more such RPLI policies procured on or after 01.10.2009

India Post bags Today's Traveller Award-2011

Department of Posts has won the Today`s Traveller Award for Best Customer Service Organisation for the year 2011. The award was presented by Shri Subodh Kant Sahai, Union Minister of Tourism here on 23rd August 2011.
The award citation says "Department of Posts has done a commendable job in reaching every citizen of India with its path-breaking innovations. There has been a major transformation in Department of Posts’ manpower development, whereby both the front and back office staff and the entire personnel make sincere efforts to understand and address customer`s needs, respond to their inquiries/complaints and provide efficient and reliable services with a good degree of enthusiasm."

Secretary (Posts) took a meeting with All India Association of Inspectors and Assistant Superintendent of Posts on 11.08.2011 to discuss the charter of demands given by the Association on 04.07.2011. MGNREGA Payments Through Post Offices

The Minister of State for Communication and Information Technology, Shri Sachin Pilot today informed Lok Sabha in written reply to a question that the scheme of payment wages under MGNREGA through post offices is operational in 19 Postal Circles ( 26 states and 5 UTs ) of the country ( except Delhi, J & K and Tamilnadu Postal Circles (Tamilnadu and Puducherry).

Suspension orders, charge sheets should be disclosed under RTI Act : CIC

New Delhi, Aug 21 : Suspension orders and charge sheets issued to government officials should be disclosed under the RTI as these are not personal information, the Central Information Commission has held.

The transparency panel held that charge sheets and suspension orders are issued as part of public activity and cannot qualify as personal information, hence should be disclosed to RTI applicants.

ASP Tekkali sub Dn of srikakulam Dn was kept under suspension today on disciplinary grounds. The exact reasons are yet to be known. Office bearers of Visakhapatnam region are in the process of ascertaining the exact happinings in the case.

Department of Posts incurs deficit of Rs 6,345 crore

The annual expenditure of the Department of Posts was 13,307.95 crore during FY11, almost double its revenue of 6,962.33 crore, government data showed.

This has "resulted in a deficit of 6,345.62 crore," Minister of State for Communications and IT Sachin Pilot said in a written reply to the Lok Sabha.

Similarly, in FY10, while the Department earned 6,266.30 crore, it spend 12,908 crore.

The department's deficit had jumped over 80% to 6,641.30 crore in 2009-10 from 3,593.09 crore in 2008-09 on account of the implementation of the Sixth Pay Commission's recommendations.

Today, Our General Secretary visited Postal Directorate and met with the Director (SR) to enquire about the outcome of the meeting held on 11.08.2011. Officers of Dubious Integrity

The Central Information Commission (CIC), while disposing of the appeal filed by the RTI applicant, Shri Sujit Kumar Majumder, has directed the PIO, CBI, New Delhi on 13.07.2011 to provide the list containing names of officers with doubtful integrity during period January 2006 to till date; (ii) List containing names of CBI officers against whom the complaint were registered or contemplated and inquiry conducted or in progress.

The matter is sub-judice, as against the decision of CIC, CBI has filed Writ Petition before the Hon’ble High Court of Kolkata .

This was stated by the Minister of State in the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions Shri V.Narayanasamy in written reply to question in the Rajya Sabha today.

Modernisation of Department of Posts

Modernisation of Department of Posts Government has approved the ‘IT MODERNIZATION PROJECT’ of Department of Posts for computerization of Post Offices, Mail Offices, Administrative Offices and other field offices. This will involve establishment of required IT infrastructure, development of required software applications with an outlay of Rs.1877.2 crore.
