According to what understanding can be drawn, this move will not be beneficial to the common man. This is because majority of the travellers do not plan 4 months in advance. Instead; Due to long booking period, there will be frequent changes improving the margins of online booking agents. Due to long booking period, confirmed railway tickets will be a rare commodity, and AC-I or II passangers will opt for airline industry. May be the corporates can block large number of tickets. Before any policy making changes by public utlities, feedback must be drawn from the general public. The advance booking period should be reduced to 2 months only & Tatkal for 3 days instead of Just one day, which would be more useful for general public.
