Sri V S Sampath takes over as new CEC

Sri Veeravalli Sundaram Sampath (62 Years) has assumed charge as the 18^th Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) succeeding Dr. S.Y. Quarishi here today. Dr. Quaraishi laid off his office yesterday after completing his tenure.He will continue in the post of CEC till January,2015.

            Prior to this, Shri Sampath has served as Election Commissioner for 3 years since 21^st April, 2009. Belonging to the 1973 batch (AP Cadre) of Indian Administrative Service, Shri Sampath served as Secretary in Ministry of Power and Secretary, Chemicals and Petrochemicals. During his long distinguished career spanning about 40 years, he held several key positions in the Government of Andhra Pradesh.
